This week the CDC announced new international travel requirements are set to start on Wednesday.

All passengers, crew and pilots flying into the U.S. must sign a document confirming they have not been to the Democratic Republic of the Congo within the past 21 days.

The CDC says the requirement is aimed at preventing the spread of Ebola.

The World Health Organization says Congo is experiencing the fastest-growing Ebola outbreak in history.

The trade association that represents leading U.S. airlines, including American, is asking the federal government to reconsider the CDC’s new travel requirement.

The group sent a lengthy letter saying in part, “Changes to check-in systems, digital signatures, station procedures, and training cannot readily be completed in the allotted time.”

They are asking for the requirements to be similar to Canada and the UK, and be focused on affected areas and relevant travel history.
