CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Some parking meters in Charlotte will start taking credit and debit cards.
According to Charlotte’s Department of Transportation, 30 “smart” parking meters will be installed on South Brevard Street.
The department is testing ways to make parking easier. If it’s successful, it will look at adding more around the city.
The CDOT is trying to get rid of older coin meters.
Right now, the only “smart” parking in Charlotte is a way to pay with a smartphone.
Drivers have to download the app and enter a zone number and how long they will be there.
