CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte boy is honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy by serving the homeless community.
Jaylan Henderson, 11, has a campaign aimed at stopping homelessness.
On Monday, he will give out 500 blankets, socks, hats, gloves, scarves and a teddy bear to those in need.
“I felt sad for the homeless people,” Jaylan said. “I pray for them, like, every day, and I want them to have stuff for the wintertime.”

The isn’t Jaylan’s first time doing this. Last year, he saved up enough money to give out 300 hats, scarves and gloves.
“Jaylan has a passion for homeless people And for years, he’s prayed for them and always had the heart to help people,” Jaylan’s mother LaGina McClinton said.
