CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The nation’s second-largest hard cider brand will soon have ties to Charlotte.
Charlotte-based Artisanal Brewing Ventures is acquiring Bold Rock Cider in a deal slated to close later this month. Financial terms of the deal were not released.

Bold Rock was attractive because of its product portfolio — which includes its core ciders and a growing seltzer line— and the brand’s existing footprint and marketshare, says Derek Detenber, chief marketing officer for ABV.
“They checked a lot of boxes for us,” Detenber says. “This is part of the premise of the business. We look for like-minded craft beverage suppliers.”
