CHARLOTTE — SouthPark is moving one step closer to becoming the city’s sixth neighborhood to implement a municipal service district.
Charlotte City Council will hear public comments on the proposed municipal service district on Monday during its regular meeting.
The goal of the MSD is to help create the infrastructure necessary to enhance the SouthPark neighborhood as it continues to urbanize.

The proposed district tax rate would be 4 cents per $100 in valuation, generating an estimated $1.35 million annually, according to the city.
That money would go toward hiring administrative personnel, marketing, safety enhancements, capital investments and economic development initiatives.
