CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A local developer is planning its next multifamily project in the burgeoning Gold District.

The Spectrum Cos., in partnership with Charlotte real estate investment management company FCA Partners, will develop a 303-unit, eight-story apartment project on South Mint Street, between Carson Boulevard and West Palmer Street and a couple of blocks from the firm's Vantage South End project. Spectrum rezoned about 2.2 acres there in July, converting the land to one of the new transit-oriented development districts.
Construction is set to begin this spring, with expected completion in the first half of 2022. Spectrum and FCA paid about $9.5 million in three transactions for the land, according to Mecklenburg County real estate records.
