CHARLOTTE — Charlotte Douglas International Airport expects more than 920,000 total flyers between Wednesday and Tuesday as Labor Day weekend marks the close of the summer travel season.
Airlines have scheduled more than 4,400 departing flights out of CLT during the seven-day holiday period, airport officials said.
Local arriving and departing passengers are forecasted to account for 36% of the airport’s total volume, reflecting ongoing growth across the Charlotte region.
Nearly 220,000 passengers are projected to pass through TSA checkpoints at the airport, representing a 3% drop compared to the same travel period last year.
The airport identified Thursday, Sept. 3; Friday, Sept. 4; and Monday, Sept. 7 as the busiest travel days of the holiday stretch.

“Labor Day weekend is typically one of the busiest of the year as customers take one final summer getaway,” Perry said in a news release. “Airport staff, alongside our federal and airline partners are prepared to help travelers move through CLT safely and efficiently.”
Airport officials recommend travelers reserve parking in advance online at ParkCLT.com or through the CLT Airport app. Drivers are advised to consider alternative travel routes and arrive at parking locations at least 30 minutes before their desired terminal arrival time. Customers booking parking online can also earn reward points through the airport’s Royalty Program.
