CHARLOTTE — Charlotte Douglas International Airport has unveiled new details about how passengers could get from the future LYNX Silver Line station near Wilkinson Boulevard to the airport terminal.
Airport officials are proposing an elevated tram or automated people mover that would make the roughly one-mile trip in about seven minutes.

The airport said construction of the Silver Line itself is still likely at least a decade away, but officials hope to begin construction on the people mover around 2030.
The system would connect the future light rail station with the terminal while also serving planned airport development and parking facilities.
The airport is also planning a dedicated rental car facility by 2032, moving rental cars out of the hourly parking deck.
Airport officials said the people mover would remain useful even if light rail were eventually extended directly to the terminal.
