CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Hornets have kicked off their Week of Service for 2023.
On Wednesday, volunteers will be packing totes with essential classroom supplies at First Ward Creative Arts Academy.
They will also be writing notes of appreciation for teachers that will be handed out at several Charlotte-Mecklenburg Title I schools ahead of the upcoming school year.
Organizers said this year’s Week of Service is focused on alleviating back-to-school anxiety and jitters.

Throughout the week, the Hornets will be partnering with local organizations and schools on five intentional projects.
These projects are designed to relieve teachers, students, and families of the financial stressors and emotional strains that often influence how prepared students are for the school year.
Bank of America will be assisting the Hornets with this endeavor.
