Charlotte Knights want millions of tax dollars for Truist Field upgrades

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Knights want tens of millions of tax dollars for stadium upgrades.

The team is asking Charlotte City Council and Mecklenburg County for $13.3 million each.

The Knights will match that.

The Knights own the stadium and it sits on county land.

Since opening in 2014, the team says 7.5 million people have passed through the stadium’s gates.

The team didn’t share any specifics for potential upgrades.
