Charlotte plans to plant 800 trees along city streets

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte’s streets are set to get a little greener, with the city planning to plant 800 trees along roads between November and March.

The City of Charlotte’s Landscape Management team will begin planting next month as part of a program that allows residents to request trees along roads they believe need more greenery.

Channel 9 told you about the program this summer. The city says it has received more than 500 requests from residents.

The planting effort is expected to continue through March, adding hundreds of trees to Charlotte’s streetscape.
