‘Chemical smell’ triggers early dismissal for Mooresville HS students

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Students at Mooresville High School were released early on Wednesday after being evacuated earlier that day.

In a Facebook post, the Mooresville Police Department said the evacuation was ordered because of a “chemical smell.”

Mooresville Fire-Rescue’s hazmat team and Mooresville police responded to the incident.

Police said while the hazmat team was still working to clear the school, there was no serious threat to the public.
