Man, woman charged for death of 1-year-old daughter in Lancaster, police say

LANCASTER, S.C. — A man and woman were charged Thursday for the death of their 1-year-old daughter in Lancaster, police said.

Officers responded around 9:45 p.m. on Feb. 22 to a call about an unconscious child at a home on Pardue Street.

When they got there, officers said they found the 1-year-old unconscious and not breathing. Officers said aid was rendered at the home before the child was taken to MUSC Health-Lancaster. The child later died at the hospital.

The child’s death was investigated by the Lancaster Police Department, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.

After investigating, the child’s parents, Shaquanda Chalese Page, 28, and David White Jr., 26, were arrested Thursday and charged with homicide by child abuse and six counts of unlawful neglect of a child.
