CHARLOTTE — A large portion of North Sharon Amity Road in east Charlotte was shut down Friday morning because of a violent crash.
The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of North Sharon Amity Road and Shamrock Drive.

Police told Channel 9 a child was hurt in the wreck and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
It’s unclear if anyone else was hurt and police were investigating what led to the collision.
Officials have not said when the road would reopen.
