AVERY COUNTY, N.C. — Three patients including at least two children were rushed from the scene of a crash just out of Newland in Avery County on Thursday afternoon, GoBlueRidge.net reported.
The crash was at the intersection of Old Montezuma Road and Newland Highway and witnesses said it involved a U-Haul truck and a minivan, which was struck in the side.
First responders found one child unconscious on the scene and worked to remove that child and at least one other child from the van. Three pediatric patients were transported to Cannon Memorial, according to GoBlueRidge.net.
The state patrol is investigating.
