ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A China-based automotive parts maker plans to open its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Landis, bringing a $50 million investment and at least 300 jobs to Rowan County.
Xingyu Automotive Lighting Systems plans to open a 121,800-square-foot facility at 205 Richwater Street in the Landis Ridge Business Park, according to Colliers.
The company plans to invest $50 million in the first phase of the project, General Manager Hua Qin said. Xingyu expects to hire at least 300 employees over the next few years.
Hiring is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with initial operations planned for the second quarter, according to the Rowan Economic Development Council.
The facility will produce plastic injection-molded components for automotive headlights and taillights that will be supplied to vehicle manufacturers, according to the Charlotte Business Journal.
Xingyu considered locations across the Carolinas and Texas before selecting Landis. Company officials cited the business park’s manufacturing capabilities, access to workers and utilities, as well as its location within the Southeast automotive corridor.
The company has signed a 10-year lease for the facility. The Rowan EDC and Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina assisted with the site selection process, including permitting, workforce development and utility connections.
Xingyu joins several other major economic development projects announced in Rowan County this year, including Google’s 730,000-square-foot logistics facility in China Grove and American Eagle’s 473,000-square-foot distribution center in Salisbury.
The county is also pursuing an unidentified manufacturing project known as Project Tribe, which could bring a $63 million investment and 280 jobs to Rowan County.
Xingyu is not using economic development incentives for its Landis project, according to the Rowan EDC.
