ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating how a fire truck from the China Grove Fire Department crashed and rolled upside down Friday morning in Rowan County.

Officials said the truck flipped at a roundabout along Highway 152 near the Interstate 85 junction around 11 a.m.

Rainy conditions were contributing to several traffic accidents on I-85 in Rowan County at the time of the crash and officials said the fire truck was responding to one of those calls when it flipped. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

It’s not clear what caused the crash but no serious injuries were reported.

Channel 9 Meteorologist Tony Sadiku spoke with the fire chief over the phone and learned that two of his firefighters did have to be transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. They have since been discharged.

Troopers had blocked a portion of the road while they investigated the wreck and removed the vehicle.
