GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A man was unable to flee the scene of a car crash thanks to a few brave citizens who held him until the police arrived.

According to Gaston County Communications, the crash happened just before 9 a.m. on Wednesday, with reports of a car hitting a building on the 1100 block of Sandy Ford Road.

After hitting the building, the driver got out of the car and attempted to run away from the scene, but he was stopped and held by citizens while they waited for police.

Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over Sandy Ford Road just as a tow truck was getting ready to haul the car away. Major damage can be seen on the side of the ship.

Gaston EMS (GEMS) said that there was a woman in the house during the crash, but the only injuries that were treated were minor ones on the driver.

State troopers are investigating the crash.
