City Council considers a 10 p.m. curfew for minors starting Nov. 1

CMPD asks city leaders to tighten youth curfew after takeovers

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte City Council will decide whether to put in place a curfew for kids under the age of 18.

If approved, the 10 p.m. curfew will start on Nov. 1.

Exceptions include:

  • When accompanied by a parent or authorized adult
  • Running errands
  • Going to or from work
  • Attending or traveling to/from an official activity sponsored by a school, the City, or a Civic organization

CMPD is asking for the curfew in response to teen takeovers but says they will not criminalize teenagers.
