City Council to reclassify local road following multiyear push

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte City Council will vote on Monday to change the classification of a southwest Charlotte street after a local man’s battle that lasted several years.

Since 2021, David Hannes has advocated for Woody Point Road to be changed from a collector street to a local street.

He says it was improperly labeled a collector street on the Charlotte streets map.

Woody Point Road feeds into Lake Wylie.

Monday’s vote will officially designate it as a local street, which could protect it from certain development in the future.
