CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte City Council members approved a plan that will impact popular businesses in South End, including Common Market.

They voted in favor for a new development Tuesday night.

Developers will put an office building off South Tryon Street between West Park Avenue and Camden Road.

That 2.3 acre plot of land currently houses businesses including the Common Market and the popular Food Truck Friday event.

In the spring, Food Truck Friday will be at the corner of South Tryon and Kingston Avenue and also in Plaza Midwood at the Light Factory off Central Avenue.

Organizers said close to 2,000 people come each week to the popular event and setting up two locations will make it more efficient.

The office developers said more retail and jobs will come to South End after construction.
