CMPD: Man arrested in connection with fatal shooting at Citgo

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting Wednesday night that happened inside the Citgo at South Tryon Street and Arrowood Road, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Erick Jamaal Neely, 19, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the hospital.

Justin Jerrell Eason, 25, was arrested at his home. He was charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, police said.

CMPD was also called out to Rice Planters Road. Crime lab investigators worked at the scene.

Police said the scene was tied to the fatal shooting, but did not say how the two scenes were connected.
