CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers in the North Tryon division are trying to curb a spike in shootings, including the latest reported on Sunday on Blendwood Drive.
Officers said many of the shootings stem from an ongoing feud between neighborhood groups.
They are worried that the violence might lead to an innocent person getting killed.
Many of the shootings happened during the day while bystanders are out on the streets, many of them children, police said.
Police arrested Aldrick Taylor and James Springs this week, charging them with attempted murder from a Sunday shooting in the 5900 block of The Plaza.
Brothers Myleik and Justin Patterson are also in jail, because officers have linked them to six shootings.
Frustrations are mounting with police, because victims and witnesses are not cooperating.
Lee Fore has lived on Eastway Drive for more than 40 years, and he's heard the gunfire.
"I can't afford to move," Fore said. "Can't afford to move at 87 years old, so I got to put up (with) it."
The neighborhood he's known is not the same safe place he called home years ago.
