CHARLOTTE — A man was killed and another person was hurt in a home invasion in east Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department detectives said.
It happened Monday night at the Heatherwood Trace Apartments on Paces Glen Avenue, which is off Albemarle Road.
Police said Reynaldo Rivera, 40, died after being shot. One other person was taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Detectives believe the shooting happened during a home invasion. No arrests have been made.
Maj. Jonathan Thomas told Channel 9 they are relying on witnesses to help solve this case.
“Someone saw something. Someone saw someone hanging out in the parking lot or saw them going in. If our best witnesses are incapacitated due to their injuries, that puts us behind on the investigation,” Thomas explained.
A neighbor told Channel 9′s Almiya White he heard the gunfire.
“Maybe a shot or two, and I didn’t think anything of it because I was about to go to bed,” Brandon James said.

He said he was home shortly after 9:30 p.m. Monday when police responded to the shooting. After he woke up Tuesday morning, James found crime scene tape.
“I went out on the balcony, looked at the tape, I’m like, ‘wow,’” he said. “Yeah, it was probably something serious happened.”
But James said despite the recent violent activity, he still considers his neighborhood safe.
“We just try to cut all this stuff down and, you know, trying to be a safer place around here because to me, this is not a bad neighborhood,” he said.
