CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD detectives are investigating a deadly shooting just steps away from a church.
The victim is identified as 43-year-old Cedric Lavar Miller.
Miller's body was found just before 5 this morning in the 300 block of Lakewood Avenue.
When police arrived, they found Miller suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Those who live there said this type of violence is not normal on their street.
"I know a lot of people want to assume because it is in this part of the neighborhood that it is something that happens on a daily basis, but it is not," said Cedric Browning.

Detectives canvassed the neighborhood, talking to people living in the area trying to find any witnesses to this deadly shooting.
So far, police have not released any info about a possible suspect.
