CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting in southeast Charlotte Monday.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m., police said they responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon on the 3600 block of Marvin Road in the Providence Division.
Police said the victim, later identified as 35-year-old Timothy Mackey, was taken from the scene by witnesses before being picked up by MEDIC.
Mackey was taken to Atrium Health where he later died, according to police.
Tuesday CMPD announced that 25-year-old Cedric Young has been arrested in connection with this case.
Young was taken into custody without incident, according to police.
He has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
CMPD said the investigation into this shooting is ongoing.
