CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detectives are investigating fraud allegations made by a department store inside SouthPark Mall.
CMPD report: Items of jewelry stolen from Macy's
Officers were called to Macy's inside the mall Sunday and were told that an employee had stolen nearly 50 pieces of jewelry over the course of year.
According to a police report, Macy's alleged that one of their employees had stolen 46 pieces of jewelry -- ranging from necklaces, gem stones, diamond rings and earrings -- over the period of a year while working and then later pawned them for cash.
The report listed the estimated worth of the stolen jewelry between $85,000-$90,000.
Police said they have identified a person of interest in connection to the case, but no arrests have been made.
Police are still investigating the report.
