Police link man to 5 armed robberies across Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has charged Roger Mandella Degree in connection with five armed robberies across the city.

Degree is accused of holding up the 7-Eleven on South Kings Drive at gunpoint on Dec. 23 and, earlier, two Metro PCSs, an Express Mart and a Circle K, police said in a news release.

Detectives were able to link all five armed robberies to Degree.

On Tuesday, CMPD officers saw a suspicious man loitering near the QT Express on South Boulevard, and after talking to the person they identified as Degree, they were able to sign warrants on him. The next day, Degree was arrested.

Degree had several items from the armed robberies, police said.

He was charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of second-degree kidnapping and common law robbery.

The investigation is ongoing.
