CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools announced two new area superintendents and five new principals on Wednesday.
Tonya R. Kales and H. Alllen Smith II were named zone superintendents. Jordy L. Sparks, Rhonda Gomez, Michelle Givens Johnson, Penny Presley and Shane F. Lis were promoted to principals.
Two principals, Sparks of Bruns Avenue Elementary and Gomez of Endhaven Elementary, both received new assignments. Sparks will become principal at Newell Elementary.
Johnson, Presley and Lis will move up from their assistant principal positions to principalships at Bingsville Elementary, Wendy Springs Elementary and Selwyn Elementary, respectively.
Smith was the only educator not already from the district, hailing from Denver, Co. He served as principal at two high schools and an elementary school there. He also co-founded Skyland Community High School, where he later became principal.
