CMS to start 4th quarter academic instruction April 6

CHARLOTTE — CMS students are about to start the final quarter of the school year. Starting no later than April 6, CMS will begin fourth quarter academic instruction that begins new content.

Parents received an email from the district outlining some changes now that everyone is learning from home. It also said that home school assignments that were optional are now mandatory.

The official start date for your child will come from your school's principal.

According to guidance from the state, for grades K-5, the focus is on supporting student progress and communicating feedback rather than on assigning grades.

For grades 6-11, grades can be assigned only if a class or course meets a number of conditions, including equitable access, consistent communication and evidence of student learning.

Each CMS school will make available learning packets for students in pre-K to third grade at every meal distribution site.
