CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A wave of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools graduations begins on Friday, and the district has tight restrictions on what parents, friends and family members can bring.
Security was checking students even during rehearsal Thursday.
The district is banning items like backpacks, balloons, gifts and flowers. CMS also says all noisemakers, including airhorns, are not allowed.
"All we ask is that our guests remember that right after your graduate's name is called, there's another graduate whose name is going to be called," Sue Doran said, CMS' Director of Athletics.
Seating at graduations is first come, first serve.
Each venue will open one hour prior to graduation.
