Coin drop for children's hospital stolen from outside Walmart

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A coin collection canister that sat outside a South Tryon Street Walmart was stolen early Friday morning by two men, surveillance video shows.

The coins collected were supposed to go to the Levine Children’s Hospital.

According to police, the canister is worth $700 and officials estimate there was another $300 in coins in the machine.

Security tapes show two men used a pair of bolt cutters to free the machine from the wall and ran out the door with it.
