HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — It’s been eight months since the largest U.S. pipeline spill in the last 20 years happened in Huntersville.
Earlier this month, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality said the amount of gasoline released exceeded Colonial Pipeline’s estimate of 1.2 million gallons. It’s also deeper in the soil than originally thought.

Today, WSOC’s Elsa Gillis toured the site and spoke to Colonial’s Vice President of Operation Services about the spill.
