Community comes together to help fallen Officer Herndon’s family; honors law enforcement

MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. — Mount Holly Police Officer Tyler Avery Herndon, 25, was killed in the line of duty Friday.

The community that he was sworn to protect and serve has come together and is showing its support for the fallen officer, his family and law enforcement.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the officer that was killed in the line of duty this morning.”

Until the end of the month, all uniformed officers are invited to eat for free at AmberJack.

JackBeagle’s will be contributing 10% of each sale on Dec. 12 to Herndon’s family.

Belmont and Mt Holly McDonald’s will be donating 10% of all sales from Dec. 14. McDonald’s in Belmont and Mt Holly offered free meals to police officers Friday.

  • Burn a blue light on your porch in support of the MHPD #backtheblue
  • Donate gift cards to the MHPD officers via the collection box in the lobby of the Police Department
  • The Police Department has received a large amount of food and can no longer accept more donations of that kind
