MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Chelsea Lambert said two of her relatives, Lacy and Jacob Lambert, left their Mooresville house 15 minutes before it caught fire Saturday evening.

They were taking their kids, 6-year-old Lily, and their son, Levi, who is almost 2 years old, to the mountains when they got the call about the fire.

Mount Mourne firefighters extinguished the fire in 10 minutes, but their dog and kitten died.

"The hardest thing was that Lacy lost her dog and cat. She's had her dog for a long time," Chelsea Lambert said.

The Lambert family lost everything, including clothes and furniture, and only managed to save a few things, like the couple's wedding album.

The fire is still under investigation, but the family believes it was an electrical fire that started near the washer and drier.

The community Moorseville is pulling together to help the family. A GoFundMe page was set up, and within 24 hours it raised $12,000. A table for donations is also set up at Lacy Jacob’s work, AcroFitness.

Chelsea Lambert said if people still want to donate, they will be taking items at the Whobilation. It's an event that will be held this weekend in downtown Mooresville.
