The Charlotte native helped the Warriors win their second NBA Finals championship in three years Monday night, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 129-120.
Curry graduated from Charlotte Christian School in 2006. The school retired his No. 20 jersey in January.

Curry’s former basketball coach at Charlotte Christian, Shonn Brown, told Channel 9 he sent a text Monday night to Curry congratulating him on the victory. Brown said he received an appreciative answer back Tuesday morning.
"I no way expected him to respond any time soon, but he did. Again, it just speaks to who he is as a person," Brown said.

Brown said that Monday night's victory brought him back to 2005 when Curry attended a camp and took a picture with his now teammate, Kevin Durant.
"Who would have thought these two guys would be on the same team in the NBA, you know, enjoying a championship game together," Brown said.
Students on Davidson College’s campus were also seen with Curry’s jersey on after the big win. Curry attended Davidson College, but left after his junior year for the NBA draft.
The student section at Davidson’s John M. Belk Arena was named in honor of Curry, who is also the school’s all-time leading scorer.
But students on Davidson's campus said Curry is not just known for his talent on the court but for who he is as a person.
"He was here for the orientation week, and he was one of the people to just pick up boxes and help people move in. He's just been a kind person on campus," said one student.
There will be a parade Thursday in Oakland to celebrate Golden State's win. As of right now, there aren't any planned celebrations in the Charlotte area.
