Convicted felon charged with kidnapping, raping 14-year-old girl in northeast Charlotte, CMPD says

CHARLOTTE — A 22-year-old man is in jail and charged with kidnapping and sexual assaulting a 14-year-old girl, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Police said Tyquan Osborne reportedly approached the girl who was walking her dog on Sept. 15 near the 900 block of West Sugar Creek Road in west Charlotte.

“Following a casual conversation, the suspect physically forced her into a car and took her to another location where he sexually assaulted her,” CMPD reported.

The girl was treated at a hospital and evidence was collected.

Osborne, who is a convicted felon on probation, was named a suspect.

On Thursday, CMPD officers arrested Osborne, who was armed, without incident.

Osborne is in the Mecklenburg County Jail and charged with three counts of statutory rape , three counts of indecent liberties with a child, first-degree kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a stolen firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
