Council wants to know if city can use hospitality, occupancy tax money on other services

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte City Council members want to know if the city can use hospitality and occupancy tax money on other services besides tourism.

The North Carolina Supreme Court recently decided Currituck County can use its occupancy tax on things like public safety.

Each city and county can have different tax laws.

Attorneys for the city of Charlotte are looking into what the ruling means for the Queen City.
