CRAMERTON, N.C. — A Spanish teacher was arrested for embezzlement after a two-month investigation, according to the Cramerton Police Department.
Jennifer Kinnett, 45, was charged with eight felony counts of embezzlement involving funds associated with the CMS Cheer Boosters. Kinnett was the Spanish teacher at Cramerton Middle School and the cheerleading coach, according to police.
Kinnett turned herself in to officers Dec. 18, 2014. She was released on a $10,000 secured bond.
Cramerton police are continuing to investigate the case.
Cramerton Police Chief Greg Ratchford described the investigation as “one that took many hours to filter through the large amount of financial evidence."
Kinnett was suspended with pay while police investigate this case.
"It's terrible because schools don't have enough money as it is," said student Julianne Jordan.
In December 2015, Kinnett pleaded not guilty to the accusations.
