BANNER ELK, N.C. — Crews are investigating a fire that destroyed a home in Banner Elk Wednesday.
Fire officials say they got the call around 4 a.m. to the house on Clawson Road. Investigators believe the fire started in the garage and spread to the rest of the mountain home.
Thankfully, the homeowners were able to escape.
Every fire department in Avery County was called in to help fight the fire because there wasn’t water nearby.
