Crowd comes out for opening of south Charlotte Whole Foods

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A crowd came out in south Charlotte on Wednesday morning for the grand opening of Whole Foods.

There was a breaking of the bread ceremony instead of a ribbon cutting at the store.

City Councilmember Andy Dulin said the store’s opening will increase competition in the area, which he said is good for consumers.

He also said the new store means lots of new jobs.

“They brought 40 employees from other parts of the country and hired 200 fresh new jobs for Charlotte residents,” Dulin said.

People who came to check out the store, which is near the corner of Fairview and Sharon roads, also got free breakfast.
