Cut fiber optics line shuts down Highway 74 in Indian Trail for hours

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Highway 74 in Indian Trail was shut down early Wednesday morning after a “construction-related incident,” according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials told Traffic Team 9’s Mark Taylor that construction crews accidentally cut a fiber optics line sometime around 3 a.m.

It was still unclear what the construction crew was working on when the line was cut.

Highway 74 was closed between Faith Church Road and Wesley Chapel Stouts Road but authorities reopened the road in both directions around 6 a.m.
