CVS to start offering COVID-19 vaccinations in NC, SC

NORTH CAROLINA — CVS Health announced it will start offering COVID-19 vaccines in 29 states, including North Carolina.

People can start making appointments on March 13, and vaccines will be administered as early as Sunday.

Through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, CVS Health has activated 9 stores in the state. The locations are in New Hanover, Guilford, Union, Randolph and Mecklenburg counties.

Those eligible to get the vaccine must meet the state’s criteria, including educators and child care workers.

“We’re increasing the number of active stores and expanding to additional states as fast as supply allows, with the capacity to administer 20-25 million shots per month,” said Karen S. Lynch, President and Chief Executive Officer, CVS Health. “We’re also focused on priority populations, including vulnerable communities disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, as well as teachers and school support staff.”

People must register for the vaccine in advance at CVS.com or through the CVS Pharmacy app. Those without online access can also contact CVS customer service at 800-746-7287.

The company is administering vaccines in nearly 1,200 stores across the following 29 states and Puerto Rico: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York (now including New York City), Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania (now including Philadelphia), Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia.
