CVS/Caremark to stop covering dozens of prescription drugs, including Viagra

CVS/Caremark, a prescription benefit insurance, will no longer cover more than two dozen medicines. Customers will still be able to buy the drugs in CVS pharmacies.

CVS will replace the dropped drugs with cheaper versions. People taking Viagra made by Pfizer can use a similar erectile dysfunction drug, Cialis, made by Eli Lilly.

The list of dropped medicines has expanded since 2012 from 34 to 124 in 2016.

Express Scripts, a rival prescription drug insurance, has banned 90 drugs from its coverage.

Action 9's Jason Stoogenke will bring you more details about this coverage change on Eyewitness News at 5:30 p.m.
