CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — Channel 9 reporter Dave Faherty has learned new information in the case of the Catawba County man who is trying to clear his name of a 24-year-old rape conviction.
A three-judge panel is hearing evidence in the 1988 conviction of Willie Grimes for rape and kidnapping.
Faherty reported that the district attorney filed a motion granting limited immunity to Albert Turner for his testimony.
Turner is in jail for a second rape and his fingerprints were discovered inside the victim's apartment in the 1987 rape that sent Grimes to prison for more than two decades.
