DA Office: No charges filed in reported rape at Duke University

DURHAM, N.C. — The district attorney in Durham said his office will not file criminal charges against a Duke University fraternity after a reported rape earlier this year.

In January, a woman claimed she was drugged at an Alpha Delta Phi off-campus party and woke up the next afternoon without underwear.

The D.A. said after an extensive investigation, he decided not to pursue an indictment against fraternity members.

In response to the reported rape, Duke University has created a student-led task force to investigate the role Greek life plays in sexual assaults on campus.

Students on the task force will examine the social culture on campus during the upcoming school year.

They will also make recommendations to prevent and address the issue of sexual assault.
