CHARLOTTE — Charlotte rapper DaBaby will be providing some Father’s Day weekend fun for families and kids.

He’s hosting a free carnival in Charlotte complete with rides, food and prizes.

While talking about the event Wednesday, DaBaby was asked about recent gun violence involving kids. He said keeping them busy with activities can help steer them away from that.

He also advocated for tighter security at schools to keep more guns from being brought on campuses.

“School, that ain’t no place for a gun at all, by nobody,” he said. “Implementing something like that, like a buffer. Whether it’s metal detectors or what. The same way you get searched at the airport, it needs to be like that to walk into a school.”

The carnival will be at the QC Sound Stage on Scott Futrell Drive this weekend. It is free for kids.
