CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department determined a deadly shooting in Steele Creek was justified, according to a release on Thursday.
Elliot Butler was shot and killed on Sept. 5 on Mereview Court.

CMPD did not release any other information about the person who shot him or the circumstances surrounding his death.
Channel 9’s Miana Massey spoke with Butler’s mother. She said she believes her son was returning to the home he shared with the mother of his children, when someone shot him.
Police have determined that no charges will be filed.
The investigation into the case remains active. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police.
