CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C.,None — A man suspected of trying to hit a police officer with a car has been caught, police said.
Ricky Lewis Carroll Jr. was found in Lincolnton Thursday morning, officials said.
During a search, Cleveland County deputies found Carol hiding in the ductwork of a High Shoals home. Deputies said the U.S. Marshals Service notified them that Carroll was hiding in a mobile home park in Kings Mountain.
Carroll, who reportedly said he would not be taken alive, was pulled from beneath the mobile home where he was hiding after the Gaston County K-9 unit located the suspect. Lincoln County EMS was called to treat Carroll for dog bites, officials said.
Three other people in the residence -- Taylor R. Wilhelm, 19, Jessica Ann Bowen, 24, and Jeremy Shane Huffman, 23, -- were arrested on charges of misdemeanor harboring a fugitive.
Bowen, Huffman and Wilhelm were placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center on a $2,000 secured bond.
According to officials, Carroll ran through a license checkpoint and hit a car in which a North Carolina State Trooper was sitting. He allegedly did the same thing a year earlier to a Cleveland County deputy.
At the time of Carroll's arrest, he had eight outstanding arrest warrants.
