Officials: 6 arrested in connection with fatal shooting

INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — Six people were arrested in connection with a homicide investigation in Indian Trail, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Christopher Reid Brown, 27, of 5002 West St., was found shot several times late Saturday at a home he shared with his mother.

Detectives said they identified two men as suspects in the crime. They also identified three others who they said provided assistance to the men in concealing the crime or evading authorities.

Detectives charged five men in connection with the murder.

Chase Montgomery Johnson, 18, of 3203 Chippendale Road in Monroe, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a stolen firearm.

William Aaron Johnson, 18, of 1010 Triple Crown Drive in Indian Trail, was charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Johnson is also charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle, larceny of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm in connection with an April 15 break-in to a car in the Annandale subdivision, where the murder weapon was allegedly stolen. Johnson was arrested Thursday.

Chase Johnson is accused of firing the shots that struck Brown, and police said Aaron Johnson drove the dark-colored vehicle seen leaving the crime scene.

Conner Lewis Wilson, 17, also of 3203 Chippendale Road in Monroe, was charged with felony obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact to murder. Wilson is accused of transporting Johnson to West Virginia following the murder and for providing false information to investigators.

Conner Wilson's father, Michael Philip Wilson, 61, same address, was also charged with felony obstruction of justice for providing what investigators allege was misleading information to divert attention from the murder suspects.

Wilson Richard Taylor, 21, of 3708 Brookstone Trail in Indian Trail, was charged with felony obstruction of justice, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Taylor is accused of withholding pertinent information about the murder suspects from investigators that night, and with possession of drugs and drug implements found at the scene the night of the murder.

Wesley Tyler Hollingsworth, 19, of 2019 Triple Crown Drive, Indian Trail, has been charged with possession of a stolen firearm. Hollingsworth is alleged to have participated in the Annandale vehicle break-in with Johnson, but Hollingsworth was not involved in the homicide on Saturday night.
